In a bid to develop the industrial sector of the economy, a policy was enacted. This gave rise to the impact substitution strategy for industrial development. This has had several geographical implications. For example, since most of the industrial inputs were imported there has been a high tendency of concentrating industries in such part cities as Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri thereby leading to geographical disparities in the distribution of economic activities.
In the past, there were certain government policies which had adverse affect on socio-economic activities of the country in general. Such includes the transport policy of the colonial government, township ordinance, and government reservation areas e.t.c. In recent times, geography has helped to sharpen these policies such that their original selfish motives have been eliminated. Thus, government policies are now enacted to have positive impact on the economic activities of the people.
