CHAPTER THREE
METHODOLOGY
3.1 INTRODUCTION
This
research study was designed to analyze the factors promoting drug misuse among junior secondary
school students in Ethiope West Government Area of Delta State.
In
this chapter, discussion will be made under the following headings:

3.2 RESEARCH DESIGN
This
research study is a survey research design type structured to analyze the
factors promoting drug misuse among junior secondary school students in Ethiope
West Local Government Area of Delta State.
3.3 POPULATION OF THE STUDY
The
population of this study comprises of all public (21) junior secondary schools
in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
3.4 SAMPLE AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
The
population sample in this study consists of one hundred and fifty (150) junior
secondary school students that were selected from eight (8) junior secondary
schools in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State. These schools
include:
a. Oreki Secondary School Oghara
b. Ogharefe
secondary school Oghara
c. Ugbenu
secondary school Oghara
d. Udurhie
Secondary School Mosogar
e. Mosogar
secondary school Mosogar
f. Idjerhe
secondary school Jesse
g. Irhodo
secondry school Jesse
h. Ugbevwe
secondry school Jesse
The method used in selecting these
schools was the purposive sampling technique, in order for the population to be
well represented; the researcher picked its sample from the three (3) different
clan in Ethiope west local government which are:
Oghara-------
3 schools
Jesse
--------- 3 schools
Mosogar
-------- 2 schools.
The
purposive sampling technique was used to select one hundred and fifty (150)
students from the above named schools, 55 students from Oghara clan, 55 from
Jesse clan and 40 from Mosogar clan, this is so because Mosogar is the smallest
clan in Ethiope West Local Government Of Delta State.
