PSYCHO-SOCIAL FACTOR INFLUENCES CHOICE OF TEACHING AMONG FEMALE STUDENTS IN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION



Abstract

The study investigates psycho-social factor influences choice of teaching among female students in College of Education, Warri, Delta State. The categories of respondents were female students, simple random sampling technique was used in five departments. Two hundred responded to the questionnaires which serve as the instrument for the study.


Chi-square (x2) statistical method was used to analyze the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance which revealed that, socio-economic status of home has a significant effect on females teaching aspiration. Early marriage has a significant influence on female’s teaching aspiration. Marital obligation has a significant effect on female’s teaching aspiration and parents’ level of education has a significant influence on the female’s teaching aspiration. Based on the conclusion the researcher was able to make some useful recommendations at the end of the study.
