PRINCIPALS’ DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES AND STRESS MANAGEMENT IN SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION



Abstract

The study was designed to analyze principals’ demographic variables and stress management in secondary school administration in Uvwie metropolis. To direct the study, four hypotheses were formulated. The population of the study comprised all principals in government owned secondary schools in Uvwie metropolis.
The study adopted the descriptive survey research design and the sample size was two hundred principals. Data for the study were collected using researcher’s developed questionnaire. In analyzing the data collected, the researcher used t-test statistics in order to answer the hypotheses formulated. The data analyzed showed that there is significant difference between male and female principals’ management of stress, there is significant difference between experienced and less experienced principals’ management of stress, there is significant difference between married and unmarried principals’ management of stress and there is significant difference between old and young principals’ management of stress in their school administration. Based on these findings some recommendations were made at the end of the study.
