The academic performance of secondary school students is increasingly being questioned by parents, teachers and school administrators. And it has been argued that only the teachers who are adequately qualified should be employed to teach the secondary school students, as performance of students is seriously at an alarming rate and has caused series of problems.
It is so appalling to find out that students of the senior secondary school level find it difficult to read, write and communicate effectively in English language and in spelling, as they are so inclined to examination malpractice, truancy etc. and even pass out with poor grades in school examinations especially in the S.S.C.E. Their performance has become of much concern to parents, teachers and the society at large. Based on the above, the study seeks to determine the perception of students of some of the factors that influence their academic performance in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
