1.3 Research Questions
The following questions are raised to guide the study:
1. What are students’ perceptions of the causes of examination misconduct in secondary schools?
2. What are the perceptions of male and female students on the causes of examination misconduct in secondary schools?
3. What are the perceptions of urban and rural students on the causes of examination misconduct in secondary schools?

1.6 Scope of the Study
This research is conducted within the framework of a few selected secondary schools in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. It also focuses on students’ perception on causes of examination misconduct.
1. Examination: This is a process of assessing students’ knowledge and performance based on predetermined topic taught.
2. Examination Misconduct: This is seen as cheating before, during and after examination, that is non-conformity to the guiding rules and regulations of examination.
3. Causes: These are factors that contribute to increase case of examination misconduct.
4. Perception: These are students’ intuitive recognition as of moral.

The purpose of this study is to investigate students’ perception of causes of examination misconduct in secondary schools in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. Specifically the study intends to:1. Find out students’ perception of the causes of examination misconduct in secondary schools.
2. Find out the perception of male and female students on the causes of examination misconduct.
3. Find out the perception of urban and rural students on the causes of examination misconduct.
1.5 Significance of the Study
This research study will be of relevance to student teachers, government, school owners as well as parents because it will enlighten them on the problem of examination misconduct. It will draw government attention to the proper ways on how examination should be conducted in the school system.1.6 Scope of the Study
