ANALYSIS OF FARMER’S AWARENESS OF TROMBE WALL AND BIOFUEL TECHNOLOGY FOR ON-FARM ADOPTION

TROMBE WALL AND BIOFUEL TECHNOLOGY FOR ON-FARM ADOPTION

ABSTRACT

The study analyzes the farmer’s awareness of Trombe wall and Biofuel technologies for on-farm adoption in Afikpo North and South Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State. Multi-stage random sampling techniques was used to select a total of 120 respondents used for the study. Primary data which was used for the study were collected through the use of a well structured questionnaire that

The study further identified trombe wall and biofuel technologies which the farmer’s are aware and has adopted in the areas to include: trombe wall system and biofuel system. More also the study showed that cost of technology, access to extension services, access to credit, compatibility with previous experience among others were the factor’s that influence the level of farmer’s awareness of trombe wall and biofuel technologies for on-farm adoption in the areas.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background Information

Economic development is one of the most important objectives of every developing country of the world and agriculture stands to play an important role in the achievement of this objective. This is due to the fact that it has the capacity to supply food, raw materials for the nation’s industrial sector and the creation of employment in the country through its numerous output.
Agriculture which is defined as the act and science of the rearing of animals and the cultivation of land for the production of food for man and raw materials for industries (Ikani,2013) Agriculture has played a vital role in human civilization and development.
Credit is referred to as that catalyst that activates other factors of production and makes under-used capacities functional for increased production (Ijere, 1998). By this it is obvious that farm credit plays a vital role in agricultural output and rural development since it enables farmers to lunch into new fields of productions, engage new technologies thereby increasing their total output.
Agricultural credits can come in several credit vehicles which has the ability to finance agricultural transactions, it can come as loan, bills of exchange, notes etc. These credits enhance productivity and promotes the living standard of rural farmers by breaking the cycle of poverty among rural farm households.
