CHAPTER THREE
METHODOLOGY
3.1 Research Methodology
This chapter
explains the methodology used in the conduct of the study with respect to
design, population, sample size and instruments employed.
It treats the
administration of questionnaire, explanation of the validity of the instrument
as well as the technique for statistical analysis of the data generated from
the study.
3.2 Research Design
This study was
carried out using the survey research method to gather responses from
students/school heads on the causes and effects of examination malpractice as
it affects the conduct of examination in senior secondary school in Warri South
Local Government Area of Delta State.
3.3 Population of the Study
The population
of the study comprises students who are currently in S.S.S. III and are
preparing for certificate examination in Warri South Local Government
Area. The study comprises two hundred
(200), SSS III students from five (5) selected secondary schools in Warri South
Local Government Area.
The schools include:
1. Edjeba
Secondary School, Edjeba
2. Demonstration
Secondary School, Edjeba
3. Dom-Domingos
College, Edjeba
4. Hussy
College, Warri
5. Nana
College, Warri.
3.4 Sample and Sampling Technique
For the
purpose of this study, the random sampling technique was employed in sampling
data for analysis.
Random
sampling was carried out in the selected secondary schools and a total of 200
students were selected for the study.
3.5 Instrument Design
The main
instrument used in this study was questionnaire which was based on the
literature review and was developed and structured with the help of an expert
in measurement and evaluation, from the research and statistics department.
