INTRODUCTION
1.1. Background of Study
Gender differences in Biology performances has been a great controversial issues in educational domain and research documents show great discrepancies among girls and boys performance in school biology (Springler and Alsup, 2003). Long research histories have help to show that male advantage in biology achievement is a universal phenomenon (Janson, 1996). While early research (Fennema and Sherman, 1997) indicates that males outperformed females in biology achievement of the higher school levels, there were also significant differences in attitudes towards biology between the two groups.

This might be correct but the researcher want to add that this depend on one’s family background, determination, attitude of the learner towards the subject, cultural background and teachers interest. 1.2. Statement of the Problem
The society we live in has an almost gender belief that men are superior to women. The belief has been so inculcated into people that it has been brought into the classroom. Everything that is worth accepting in our fast developing society has to be verified. This is the reason why this study is being carried out to find out if any discrepancy exists between the academic performance of male and female students in biology.
There is this inherited gender in female students which affect their social stereotype view that female students are the weaker sex and so should be under the boys even in academics. This view psychologically affects these girls and may be the reason for any differences in academic performance that have been noticed in them.
