The concept of empowerment is multi-faceted and dimensional in that, it can be used in different ways depending on the context within which one is using it. In literal terms, empowerment could be used to mean, to authorize which means giving people some ability to influence something they cannot influence or do something they cannot do. In the management parlance empowerment could mean to equip” and to give the staff of an organization the enabling environment to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.

Effectiveness of government policies and efforts toward educational development in any nation or state depends on the extent to which teachers are empowered as well as how far the policies and programmes that can enhance teachers’ empowerment are implemented. Kay (2009:94) stated that, “an educational development can not realize its objectives and promote human development if teachers in such a system are not materially, skillfully, intellectually and otherwise empowered”. The major function of teachers is to teach especially in schools and to impart knowledge to individuals in the society. Teachers are principal agents of social change.

IGP deploys 5 units of PMF, helicopters, intelligence team to stop Benue killing
FOLLOWING the recent killings in parts of Benue and Rivers states,the Inspector General,Ibrahim Idris,has deployed additional five units of Police Mobile Force,PMF, Police Special Forces, Police Aerial Surveillance Helicopters and Special Police Joint Intelligence and Investigation Teams to Benue and Rivers State respectively.
This was even as he placed Commissioners of Police and police personnel in the affected states on red-alert and direct 24-hours crime prevention and visibility patrols throughout the country.

Incentives are designed to promote workers enthusiasm to work. Any worker who knows that such a thing exist where he works strive to get it by putting interest, and showing sign of commitment towards achievement of organizational goals.
The incentive schemes available in Ebonyi State Ministry of Works seem to be sparsely distributed to the beneficiaries and this has consequences on the workforce. Most of the incentives are not redeemable as it takes months to be claimed. Again, this attitude dampens the urge of the workers to put their best in attaining organizational objectives thereby reducing productivity.
