COMMUNICATION GAP MANAGEMENT FOR OPTIMAL SERVICE DELIVERY IN THE PRIMARY EDUCATION SECTOR
Abstract
The study identified communication gap problems
among primary school administrators and the strategies for their management in
Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. Based on the three research
questions, the researcher used simple random sampling technique to select 100
respondents for the study. A questionnaire was used to collect data. Data
collected were analyzed using mean to answer the research questions. The
findings from the study revealed that out of 10 items investigated, eight cause
communication gaps among school administrators. Some strategies were identified
that could be adopted to control communication gaps among primary school
administrators. It was recommended among other things that the school
administrators should avoid communication gaps and use adequate communication
process to make known the school procedures, policies and practices to the
staff and pupils in order to avoid rumour and counter-rumour, which may be
destructive and injurious to the school administration.
