Abstract

The study was designed to ascertain the factors responsible for low use of information and communication technology in school administration in Sapele Metropolis. To direct the study, two research questions were stated. The study adopted the survey research design and the population of the study comprised all the principals in government owned secondary schools in Sapele Metropolis. Sampling was not required as all the principals were used in the study. Data for the study were collected using researcher’s developed questionnaire.
In analyzing the data collected, the researcher used statistical mean ratings to answer the research questions. The data analyzed revealed that there is little or no use of ICT for administrative purposes by principals of secondary schools and lack of electricity was identified as the greatest factors responsible for the low use of ICT in the administration of secondary schools in Sapele Metropolis. Based on these findings, some recommendations were made at the end of the study.
